Don't just toss your pumpkins in the trash this year. These orange beauties have so much more to offer than to just look pretty on your front porch.

1. pumpkin puree

Pumpkin puree can be used to make many things including muffins, pies, cookies, breads, soup, and pumpkin spice lattes. It will keep in the fridge for a week or in the freezer for a year.

2. Roast the seeds

There are many different flavors of roasted pumpkin seeds that you can try.

3. Wash, dry, and save the seeds

You can plant your own pumpkin patch next year with the seeds you collect from your pumpkins.

4. Spa treatment

Turn your pumpkin into a facial by mixing pumpkin puree, honey, and coconut oil together.

5. Feed them to your animals

Split your pumpkin in half and feed them to your animals. The seeds of a pumpkin have been found to be high in essential fatty acids and antioxidants. This helps keep their skin and fur healthy. The oils in a pumpkin's flesh and seeds are believed to support urinary health.

6. Compost

If all else fails, throw your pumpkins in your garden. Pumpkins are 90% water so they will decompose quickly giving your garden much-needed nutrients.
